Pearls of Wisdom (POWs) taken from the recent Call of Duty course in Manchester!!
Assalaamu 'Alaykum
My wife and I attended the recent Da'wah training course by iERA in Manchester titled 'The Call of Duty'. The course was taught by Abdurraheem Green and was extremely beneficial mashaAllah. Here are a few 'Pearls of Wisdom' taken from the course. Wassalaam You must give Da’wah or you will be destroyed It’s not about what you know but how you present what you know If your deeds are not sincerely for Allah, they become useless. In fact, they become a witness against you on the Day of Judgement The story of Ali Ibn Abi Talib and the Jew who spat at him in battle…. That is true control of the Nafs! What is NOT Da’wah? An exhibition on Palestine – this will just expose our weakness! Being an Ameer is NOT a PRIVILEGE, it’s a RESPONSIBILITY Allah sent a Messenger to the people from the people Intentions have to sincere AND correct Knowledge precedes action Acting upon your knowledge and calling others to Allah is a means of becoming an Awliyah of Allah You must be a good-deeds maximiser! Camels are the best of wealth Two Rolls Royce’s don’t make a baby Rolls Royce but to Camels make a baby camel! It’s not enough for them to become a Muslim, they need to be kept on the right track! When we disobey Allah, He sends a Fitnah – until we repent There was a believer worshipping Allah in a place of Fitnah. Jibreel told Allah of this. Allah said, “Start with him first!” How can we sit and allow evil to happen? Do we think we are immune to it? We’ll all sink with the ship! “Why you talking to the GORAH (white guy) anyway?” If the big speakers get banned and the TV channels close down, who will give Da’wah then? Accurate transmission of the knowledge MAY cause the receiver to understand it better than the transmitter “Nobody comes to our events…!” How many events of theirs do you go to? Da’wah is like sales. It’s all about communication The key to spoken and written words is clarity You don’t have to string complicated words together – Keep it simple! The Qur’an is few words in number but the meaning is deep Repetition is key either 6 times OR in 6 different ways If your language is a religious language, are you really speaking THEIR language? It is easy for the du’aat to seem arrogant. Not because you are but because the truth is so blindingly obvious! The Prophet (sallaaahu alayhim wassalaam) said, “Gentle adorns and Harshness disfigures. Allah gives to gentleness what he does not give to harshness. If someone gives you evil, return it with something better Be a good listener To get people to listen to you, you have to listen to them Empathy – if I was EXACTLY like that person, how would I feel? Muslims bring in culture and automatically alienate Do not create more of a barrier Do you REALLY HAVE to wear that? Don’t stink when giving Da’wah! Smiling is sadaqah! The Prophet (sallaaahu alayhim wassalaam) had more to cry about than anyone yet he smiled the most When you believe – it’s from the heart, to the heart! Let people feel the passion! If two people find commonality, SYMPATHY and EMPATHY are born Any conversation can be a Da’wah conversation Da’wah by DAY, Du’a by NIGHT (and vice versa) Beg Allah to give you the ability to get that shahadah! Be yourself- don’t go into ‘Da’wah mode!’ Da’wah is something we do together! Know your material – Have YOU read the Qur’an? Arguing with atheists gets you nowhere Don’t argue for arguments sake – lose the ego! Don’t lie about the deen for the sake for pleasing others If you don’t know, say “I don’t know.” I want go to Sweden to give ‘Da’wah’, said the Arab brother ;-) Never judge a person by their looks – remember the man in pink underpants! The Prophets (sallaaahu alayhim wassalaam) most difficult day was at Taa’if An endless circle of questioning never satisfies If you can prove that Allah is TRUE, and Muhammad sallaaahu alayhim wassalaam is TRUE and that the Qur’an is from Allah, then they HAVE to accept! Who leads the discussion? Make sure it’s you! Islam is all about SUBMISSION to Allah and NOT rationale Pig is Haraam because Allah says so! If this Qur’an is from Allah, who but a fool would reject it? How fallible is the limited knowledge of a doctor and how limitless is Allah’s? Will a non-Muslim who starts to wear Hijaab be saved from the Hellfire? Only will he who believes in Allah and His messenger! The difference between them saying, “Yes it is possible” and accepting is very small Build in affirmation We should be Da’wah machines and look for opportunities to GO RAP! Ignore the branches! First talk about the trunk! Always build in the “YES” A part of something is less than the whole – Universal Principle You don’t get something from nothing All things have to come from something The Universe is organised and systemised so there must be an ORGANISER and a SYSTEMISER! What is more likely? Order created randomly or order created by an intelligent being? The more greater and sophisticated and object, the greater its creator If there was a 50/50 chance of a plane crashing, would you get onto it? An atheist talks with emotions The INFINITE cannot be FINITE Allah is ONE and UNIQUE! There cannot be two beings unconfined by time and space otherwise by definition they ARE confined If one GOD provides, then the other GOD cannot be a PROVIDER! Would the Devil say, “Worship ONE God?” and “A’oodhubilla himinash Shaythaanirrajeem” (If Muhammad sallaaahu alayhim wassalaam was influenced by the Devil). Does that make more sense than what you believe right now? “I don’t feel it” – Didn’t we agree on common sense? You will never understand Islam until you practice it! INVITE to the way of Islam 85% of people agreed that Islam is IRRATIONAL - THERE IS NOTHING AS RATIONAL AS ISLAM! If something is not necessary to you, it does not mean that it doesn't exist God needs to be different and unique from creation or else the creator will become the creation In Africa, in a year, 6,000,000 people apostated from Islam. Thats 600 a day and 667 per hour! Christians link deen with dunya The vision of the Prophet (Sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam) was that there would be a Muslim in every country, in every city, in every area, in every street until there would be a Muslim in every house even if the house was made of hair! Great observation Khoyes!
Hopefully we will hear some success stories from you in the near future due to your dawah efforts! May Allaah keep us sincere for His sake alone. Ameen
